FREEMASONRY TODAY
ABOUT FREEMASONRY TODAY

Freemasonry Today is a unique magazine: it is an independent Masonic magazine edited by Freemasons to celebrate both the rich heritage we enjoy and the world-wide Brotherhood we represent. But it is also written for non-Masons who have an interest in Freemasonry and its central aspiration which has long been best expressed in the words of the ancient oracle of Delphi: "Man, Know Thyself".

Freemasonry is based upon initiation and a spiritual journey; it exists to show men a way to become better able to shoulder the burden of society, to give back what they can, to be honest in their dealings and above all, to seek the Way to the centre of life - to that Divine Spirit which lies deep within us all.

Freemasonry is a universal Brotherhood which seeks to bring men together; a vital task in today's world which remains split by religious and political disputes serving only to drive men apart and keep them in conflict. There are many trails to the top of the mountain; who is to say which is best?

But Freemasonry is also enjoyable and so we hope that Freemasonry Today will entertain as much as it seeks to inform. For Freemasonry is growing and changing: a younger generation, seeking spirituality without the dogmatic and sectarian distinctions, is beginning to discover the Craft's virtues and we at Freemasonry Today feel that it is now right that the world beyond the Masonic Temple should know of our Craft and all that it truly stands for.
