Safety First Kids
It is safety first for these youngsters at
Anglesey Community School, Burtonon-Trent in Staffordshire, seen wearing
their high visibility jackets provided by
Andresey Lodge No. 6408.
As well as purchasing 75 of the safety
jackets for the youngsters, the lodge –
which meets at Burton – included five
more for teachers to enable children
to be taken out on school trips.
Once again, masons are seen to be
active in their local communities, in
this case with high visibility!
Lodge Milestone
Palvinder Singh
Chana was
Master for the
150th anniversary
of the consecration
of Stoneleigh
Lodge No. 725
held in Birmingham
recently.
Lord Leigh, the
then Provincial
Grand Master of
Warwickshire and
the first Master of
Stoneleigh Lodge, led the
consecration at the Kings Arms and
Castle Hotel in Kenilworth in February
1858, followed by a huge banquet at
Stoneleigh Abbey.
Among the distinguished guests at
the anniversary was Michael Price,
Provincial Grand Master for
Warwickshire.
On Guard!
Ray Sanders-Crook, the current Master
of David Garrick Lodge No. 4243,
which meets at Stratford-on-Avon in
the Province of Warwickshire, served
as a regular soldier for many years.
On his retirement he became a
member of The Queen's Body Guard
of the Yeoman of the Guard – a
Beefeater – and was stationed at the
Tower of London.
Although now retired from
that historical office, he still sports
those wonderful whiskers!
Initiate's Guide
An excellent 56-page guide to
Freemasonry for Initiates has been
produced by the Metropolitan Grand
Lodge of London. Divided into five
sections, it would also be useful to
more experienced Masons as well.
As is made clear in the document, the
booklet is intended as a very brief
introduction to Freemasonry, and to
answer some of the questions which
Initiates may have.
After an introduction, there are
sections dealing with history, useful
things to know, next steps – such as
visiting other lodges – and a handy
reference section which includes an
introduction to the Royal Arch.

Natural and Supernatural
Papers are invited from scholars of all
disciplines, whether Freemasons or

The aim of this conference is to
examine the interplay of science and
Freemasonry, and to address a broad
spectrum of the issues that such an
examination raises. Proposals for
papers, historical, biographical,
philosophical and speculative,
relevant to this theme are welcomed.
Deadline for papers is 30 April 2008 –
synopsis approximately 300 words.
Papers should be sent to the address
above.
