    Symbols of Freemasonry

Daniel Béresniak. Photographs by Laziz Hamani. Editions Assouline, Paris. 128pp. Hardback. £19.95 (£16.95 to FMT readers - see the slip in the Spring issue).

It does the old heart good to see a publisher getting to grips with the Craft in a style befitting its significance. This large format book, wondrously illustrated, shows Craft (and Rose Croix) symbolism in visual close-up, while providing (with the accent on French traditions) an often subjective explanation of the moral, philosophical and spiritual symbols which can (and should) provide windows into masonic self-exploration. The book will intrigue non-masons while rekindling inspiration in the hearts of brethren. This production shows a real care for its subject and its readers.
